I agree with you completely. We need to have gun laws tightened not loosened but when we have representatives in Congress who send Christmas cards with their families holding assault rifles I don’t have much hope things will change. But I can certainly get out & vote and maybe things will turn around. Good article.

Absolutely. Vote most important and speak up to our representatives!

You are correct: it is about guns. But it is also about something much bigger than any single issue: the polarization of our American society. Whether we are ardent liberals or hardcore conservatives, it is nearly impossible to have a reasoned conversation

about any difficult issue. We have lost the ability to listen to contrary opinions for the purpose of understanding, and instead listen for the purpose of forming a quick, witty response. Thus, finding common ground is not possible.

You reflect my feelings and disillusionment with our current representatives who won’t address this national problem. It seems like nothing gets through to them and they don’t care that innocent people and children are being killed. Gun laws need to be tightened not loosened. How many people will be killed before the next election? Thank you, Jeanne, for expressing my feelings too.

You are so right Jeanne. The deniers deflect a lot. We do need to take action.
