With any holiday approaching (Easter is on its way), many families will be preparing a feast of all their favorite dishes to serve as the family gathers.
I do love tart cherry pie. I remember sitting on the back porch helping my mom pit sour cherries which were then frozen and used in the dead of winter for pie. Be still my beating heart.
Like Tom (yours) I love pie. Peach pie is another favorite. I don't remember having it as a child, but about 30 years ago, a friend brought one to a picnic and I was converted.
I don't remember that we ever had "have-to-have" dishes at Easter dinner. This year we are going to our oldest daughter's family. One of the grandchildren is making lemon meringue pie, Tom's (mine) favorite.
I look forward every week to reading your blog, Jeanne. Thank you so much, and a joyous Easter to you and Tom.
I am a pie addict but I do especially love your cherry pies. I love egg custard, chocolate custard, shoo-fly, coconut, apple, blueberry, lemon chess, chocolate chess, lemon meringue, peach, pumpkin, sweet potato, key lime and on and on and on. I do not care for pecan. I still fondly remember my first taste of sweet potato pie during my college years at the Hollywood Restaurant in Chapel Hill NC. Those ladies could really make a pie sing. I had never heard of sweet potato pie before and I soon became addicted. Thanks for the delicious memories. Let's have some PIE!
Pies were my favorite. ( I say “were” because GF just does not begin to have the great taste of real flour) my mother and sister- in- law made amazing pies!!! Thanks for the memories. That is what I like about getting older….. memories ❤️
Always interesting! My Grandmother baked cakes which were delicious!
