I had no idea when we moved to Vermont in 2014 that it was a haven for cheese lovers and cheese makers. My first trip to the small grocery store near our house was an impressive education when I came upon an enormous refrigerated case with an array of cheeses like nothing I had ever seen. I quickly learned that for a cheese lover like me, I had landed in a wonderful place.
My good friend and neighbor grew up with one of the stewards of this wonderful place, and you and Tom need to visit! I've heard lots of Portia and Flo stories. And their cheeses are 😘 https://chapelhillcreamery.com
Great blog, Jeanne, for a cheese lover like me. Although I don't know much about different kinds of cheeses, your information is a great motivator for me to learn. I am sure you know about Ashe County Cheese in West Jefferson, NC, a short drive from Boone. We used to enjoy going there to get their delicious cheese.
I really love cheese, too, but unfortunately I have not progressed beyond Cabot Creamery or Tillamook, Oregon cheese. I think they are exotic; they are really just a step up from Kraft. It's the cheapskate in me. Dwayne is lactose intolerant but he can take a pill or two and eat any milk product.
That cartoon...hilarious! John and I love cheese too. Trader Joes has a nice mushroom brie, and often you can find artisan cheeses from around here at the UNC-Avl Saturday morning tailgate market. Yum!
We were so lucky in Burlington to have the Deadalus Wine and Cheese Shop. We met their Head Cheesemonger Rorey just before he won the National Cheesemonger Award Contest and he never steered us wrong. We were also able to attend the Vermont Cheese Makers Festival at Shelburne Farms for a few years which was always a treat. I have to admit my palate is not as refined as Jeanne's is but I do like cheese just not the stinky ones!

That was so enjoyable. And I love how you add pictures, etc. Delightful.
